admin answers:
Median hourly earnings of dental assistants were $13.62 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $11.06 and $16.65 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $9.11, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $19.97 an hour.
Benefits vary substantially by practice setting and may be contingent upon full-time employment. According to the American Dental Association (ADA), almost all full-time dental assistants employed by private practitioners received paid vacation time. The ADA also found that 9 out of 10 full-time and part-time dental assistants received dental coverage.

DENTAL ASSISTANT SALARY?
Does anyone know the normal salary for a dental assistant???

admin answers:
I guess I need to move to Houston. The National Average for the United States for a dental assistant is between $15.00 hr and $21.00hr. For a Registered Dental Assistant it is between $18.00 and $25.00. Also, the more diversified your experience, the better the pay will be.
It does however depend on where you live. I have never heard of any assistant making between $60K and $120 K a year. Fees for dental services are regulated by the zip code of the office. The more affluent the area, the more the dentist can charge. Hence, the more a dentist can charge, the more he/she can pay.
Read the want-ads in your area to get an idea of the what the local pay scale is.
