It costs $125…not sure where you could get help to pay for it.

I just took the test last year….it’s not as hard as some people say it is.

Good Luck.

Do you think that those 9 month medical assistant schools are any good? Let me know your opinion?

I am in a private 2 year college for legal studies. I enjoy it, but I know a lot of people who are enrolled in these medical assistant schools. I mean they are like 9 months and they offer no financial aid. They say thaey do, but they just tell these people that they will make a lot of money and they can pay off $8,000-15,000 loans. I mean they only pay about $15 per hr in MASS. that’s not a lot. I mean is that all someone wants to make for the rest of their life? That is still poverty here, and they will still need some public assistance. There is a community college nearby my home that offers a medical assistant program for two semsters and the college offers financial aid. It’s funny because my friends that are doing these programs, are all on welfare with kids. How the hell are they going to pay off $15,000? It’s funny to me because if these medical schools offered real financial aid then my friends wouldn’t pay a dime because their EFC would be zero and they would most likely get a grant. Community Colleges are not that expensive. then they have these girls doing externships like it’s so amazing. I mean the commercials get the girls goof. It’s funny that the commercials come on during jerry springer and maury A LOT!!These schools are targeting certain groups of people. People who don’t obviously know that there are other options….But hey, tell me your experience or input on these schools. What do you think? Atleast an Associates degree or a diploma in medical assisting?

Edit this question! Most is a rant. What do you really want to know? Personally, I feel these schools are not worth it; but they are a business and out to make money….free enterprise-remember?

medical assisant diploma?

Hi, I was researching the medical assistant program and have a few questions im hoping somone can answer,

How many days a week for how many hours do you attend class?
Is there alot of homework?
Would it be possible to keep my part time (30) hours a week job and still attend class?
thank you very much

admin answers:

It really depends on what school you decide to go to. I went to Everest. I loved it. I went from 12:00pm – 4:00pm monday-friday. I went to work at 6pm so It worked out perfectly. You get homework not a whole bunch a good amount. We did most of the stuff at school because everything is very hands on. Its 8 months and then you do an externship working in the field in a real doctors office. The extership is 160 hours. Its a great program .

I feel so bad about myself? HELP!?

So, I was always sort of an over achiever without even trying. I graduated high school early at 16, and got married at 18 and bought my first brand new car and brand new townhome at 19. Well, I have some college done, but since my husbands military it was hard to go to school at first with moving. Now, Im getting back into school in October getting my bachelor degree in a little over two years, and then I will go straight on to my masters. Well, there is this girl that sort of hangs out with me. She is sort of like a little annoying sister to me. She was only 15 when she had her first baby, and she dropped out of high school her freshman year. Im not trying to be mean or anything like that, but she is starting a medical assistant diploma program that takes 8 months, and I feel like a failure because she will be done with school before me. I feel sort of mean for feeling this way, but I can’t help it. She is really not a smart girl, she is really immature, and now she will be done with school before me, and have a good career? What the heck..I just feel like Im such a failure! What can I do to make myself feel better?

admin answers:

One of the most dangerous things you can do is compare yourself to other people who are in completely different situations. If you do that, you’ll feel bad about yourself your entire life.

This girl is not trying to achieve her Master’s. She’s probably trying to do whatever she can that is affordable, quick, and will help her make a better life for her child.

As cliche as it sounds, we all really do have an individual path to take in life, and due to situational differences, we’ll never follow the exact course of the people we know. Furthermore, by comparing yourself to this girl, you are beginning to put her down (you said “She is really not a smart girl, she is really immature, and now she will be done with school before me, and have a good career? What the heck”). By doing this, not only are you trampling your own self-esteem, you will also begin to effect hers. Even if you don’t realize it, as you build up resentment towards her in your mind, you’ll begin to treat her differently. And she will notice, no matter how uneducated or immature she may seem. So now we’ve taken what should be a great situation of 2 strong, supportive, and motivated women who are continuing their education in order to really reach their full potential and better their lives… And turned it into 2 unsure, competitive women who are second-guessing their decisions and strengths. Rejoice with her that she has found the path meant for her, and don’t let her accomplishments undermine what you will soon be accomplishing as you begin your path to your Master’s.
