The pay will vary on experience, the size of the organization you work for and where in new york you are located, but a basic internet search shows an RN is paid around $60,000 where an MA is around $24,000-30,000.

Lisa asks…
Registered Nurse vs Physician Assistant Salary?
Which makes more?

admin answers:
It depends.
Working the same number of hours, the PA salary will be higher to go along with the higher education and responsibilities.
However, some PAs are on salary and get paid a flat rate regardless of the number of hours they work.
The RN is usually on a wage and will make 1.5 – 2x hourly rate for any overtime. Thus, they can actually make more than the PA if they work alot of hours.

Jenny asks…
Could someone please help me get some information on being a certified nursing assistant?
I’m looking into becoming a CNA after i finish high school and I really need to know some things. Like can anyone tell me how long it takes to get a CNA license? and how much is the usual salary? and if you can please tell me more about being a CNA. Thank you.

admin answers:
General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘nursing, psychiatric and home health aides’ or such.
Please note that the job of a cna is very physically as well as mentally demanding. The cna may work with patients (‘residents’ if in a nursing home) that are confused and agitated while trying to have to help them take care of their daily needs (ADLs/activities of daily living) such as dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting. The cna may have to transfer the patient from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’ such as from the bed to the commode or such.
I would certainly agree to do some volunteer work in a nursing home
If deciding to go forth with the training, please do look into the more affordable routes such as through the county vo-tech school, community college (perhaps a non-credit course) or through a nursing home (though one may need to sign a contract to work at that facility for a certain length of time so please read the fine print before providing signature
US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, us career, stratford career, ITT tech, sanford brown, university of phoenix, capella, strayer, kaplan, devry, keiser and others as they are merely out to ‘make a profit’: http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us
http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.
